Lighting

Lighting of my how to video was at a high standard as I used three point lighting throughout the whole video. The video was engaging as it gave the introduction a theme of allure to the video with the halo effect. Lighting for close up shots was at a high standard as the clarity of what the demonstrator was doing was clear to see with the lighting used. I don't believe I could improve on this anymore except for the shadow being cast by me recording at (1:28-1:38). This could of been prevented if I shot it further away at a distance using a zoom or used lighting equipment from the ground to help shine light on the camera to prevent shadow from my position. From this mistake I have learned to change and check lighting positions on what I am video capturing for future projects.

Script

I followed the script from my preproduction in my first draft of my video. In my first draft it was in short form easy to read and understand but had spelling mistakes in the captions of the video. Given feedback on my first draft video I was asked to correct these mistakes. I have improved on this by making it more detailed and being grammatically correct. I have learned to always spell check my video before posting it as a final product.

Camera angles.

Variety of shot types with different camera angles. I believe the use of different shot types allowed the viewer not to get disinterested as it constantly changed to different camera angles. I followed my preproduction shot list giving the best camera angles of the camera and tripod I believe I could do. With the many shot types it helped in the energy of the video as the sound was upbeat jazz with the continuous deferent camera angle shots of the tripod and camera it keeps the viewer engaged. The shots taken where in the best quality as shown in the video. What I learned during filming is it takes many attempts to get the right shot as I had to take multiple takes to get the right shot. I leaned to be patient.

Transitions&editing

The use of transition wasn't good at all as it was just jump cuts as well as some scenes of the video dragged on a bit. I could have put in more graphic transition effects but I believe the videos use of cuts is fine with the amount of I should off cut some scenes out to maybe make it the whole video more streamline and more consistent. What I could off done is put in more graphic transitions into the video to keep the viewer engaged such as the introduction where the camera zooms into the camera going into the title sequence. My plan was to have a blur zoom in blurr effect into he tile sequence but I couldn't figure it out even with multiple youtube tutorials. What I could improve on in the future is find easier and simpler transition effects to input into my video. This can help me save time and focus on more complex transitions when I have free time. Another effect that went wrong was he split screen. I was able to complete the split screen effect but I didn't have the right clips to put in shown in the camera movement scene showing the clips not in sync.I would improve on picking the right clips before inserting it into final product.

Sound

Sound of the video used copyright free jazz music. I believe this music was a good choice in this video as its upbeat tone helps with the many shots types and cuts in the video. This given the video a energetic xxx keeping the viewer entertained. This went to plan in preproduction. I could have improved on putting in sound effects such as clicking or camera sounds when the instructor is demonstrating the tripod and camera. This could have helped the viewer in experience familiarity.

Captions graphics

The caption graphics on the video where readable in the first draft the where grammatical errors which I fixed in the last draft for my video. I did not look into what type of caption graphic would suit my video as I did not think it would have an effect. But using large hero font for the introduction of the name of the video I believe was good as it gave expectation for the rest of the video. The captions where readable but had problems when in front of the white table or a light background. This was an issue I discovered when editing. To fix this I tried to put in a drop in shadow effect on the captions but it did not work increasing the shadow to 100 percent. This did not get fixed in the final draft instead I decided to extend the time of the caption when it was in front of a lighter background. I learned how caption graphics can have an effect on a video giving a theme and energy. What I need to improve on is how to use captions effectively in video.
